Merritt Island starts the season 3-0-0 and heads back home to Mustang Stadium to host Astronaut High School for match four.

Mustangs were expected to dominate and that’s exactly what they did.  Less than five minutes into the first half, Kyleigh Trout takes a Merritt Island corner kick and rockets a pass to Katie Glass to put the Mustangs up by one.

Three minutes later, Kyleigh heads back to the flag and launches a ball to Senior Captain, Karys Verpaele to double the Mustang lead.  The Mustangs would continue their domination, pressing the Astronaut defense hard.  Mustangs fire a shot which is deflected, sending Kyleigh back to the corner and she sends another perfect ball across the box for a trifecta of set piece goals, with Katie Glass getting on the end of it.

Merritt Island was relentless, continuing a hard offensive press going into halftime.  Senior Captain Amaya Quintal assisted Senior Abigail Compton for goal four.

Freshman Hannah Kenney slots it thru to Senior Captain Karys Verpaele to stretch the lead to five.  Minutes later, the Astronaut nemesis, Kyleigh Trout was unstoppable from the flag.  Another corner kick was launched to Captain Amaya Quintal. A deflection gives Katie Glass her third of the night and takes the Mustangs up by six.

Sophomore Gabby Miner would add her name to the stats book with a beautiful pass to Payton Gibney for a back-post ringer, the seventh goal of the match.  The Mustangs would head to halftime just one goal short of the match being called due to goal differential.

Just after kick-off Kyleigh Trout assists Abigail Compton to end the match early and head into Thanksgiving break 4-0-0.
