MERRITT ISLAND, Florida – Eight student-athletes from Merritt Island High School’s girls varsity soccer team have been named to Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s 2023 All-Academic Team.
Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be a starting varsity player to be eligible.
Seniors, Zara Anderson (C), Payton Gibney (C), Katie Glass (C), and Hailey Jones (C) return to this year’s list, representing the team’s senior class. Breezy Kovac, Julianna Trujillo, Chloe D’Entremont, and Maggie Piasecki represent the team’s junior class. Kovac and Trujillo were also named to FACA’s 2022 All-Academic team.
Merritt Island Head Coach, Nathan Trout said, “We’re incredibly proud of the academic standards our girls hold themselves to. It’s a tough schedule to balance and we thank FACA for recognizing them.”

Merritt Island High School is an accredited public high school in Brevard County, Florida. The school offers classes for grades 9-12, including Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, and courses with the Dual Enrollment program at Eastern Florida State College. There are also a variety of academies available for students to enroll in, including the Advance Placement academy, Fame Academy for the performing arts and multi-media entertainment, and Davinci.
