Merritt Island’s Jorgenson leads 2021 All-Space Coast Boys Soccer

Kam Jorgenson is a “multi-faceted” player, in the words of his Merritt Island coach, Scooty Carey.

Jorgenson played mostly as a forward for the Mustangs in this, his senior season, but he was dangerous when coming from the midfied.

He is FLORIDA TODAY’s Boys Soccer Player of the Year for 2021.

“He can play any position on the field other than goalkeeper,” Carey said, “and I only say that because I haven’t seen him in the goal. He probably could be good at that, too.”

The coach complimented Jorgenson’s soccer mind, calling him “extremely insightful,” which helps him know where to be on the field and when. Once there, he has the athleticism to get the job done against smaller players who are perhaps expected to be more mobile.

Jorgenson is 6-foot-2 and 200 about pounds.

“For a kid that size, he’s a tremendous athlete,” Carey said. “Even being that tall and powerful, he’s quick and strong and fast, which makes the difference sometimes in a game.”
