Nine Mustangs named All Cape Coast Conference

MARCH 2021 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MERRITT ISLAND, Florida – Merritt Island High School Boys Varsity soccer team tops all Brevard County schools with six players voted onto the prestigious 2021 All Cape Coast Conference Soccer Team. 

Senior Kameron Jorgenson, who recorded seventeen goals and eleven assists led Brevard County receiving the most overall votes for the boys nominees.  Joining Jorgenson is fellow Senior, Bret Geyer along with four Juniors, Grant Paparella, Josh Fox, Seamus Feeney, and Will Zabin.

On the girls side, Senior Captains Jessica Martin and Karys Verpaele were named All Cape Coast Conference along with Junior teammate, Kyleigh Trout.  Trout posted the most statistical points for the Varsity girls team with nine goals and sixteen assists. 

Boys Varsity Head Coach, Scooty Carey said, “I’m extremely proud of our teams for this accomplishment.  For Merritt Island to receive that many players named All Cape Coast Conference speaks volumes to the way our boys and girls programs came together for each other this year.  It’s one of the biggest compliments a player can receive for an opposing coach to select them to this esteemed all-county group.”            

The Mustangs boys & girls teams were also awarded FHSAA’s 4A Academic Team Champions.

Merritt Island High School is an accredited public high school in Brevard County, Florida.  The school offers classes for grades 9-12, including Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, and courses with the Dual Enrollment program at Eastern Florida State College.  There is also a variety of academies available for students to enroll in. Including the Advance Placement academy, Fame academy for the performing arts, and Davinci.
